Architectural Color is licenced by RAL gGmbH to represent the classic RAL color system. With this app you can browse, compare, contrast and search for colors within the RAL system. This app also translates the color names to 6 European languages and includes the RAL codes. You can search by name or code in a wildcard fashion and can compile a color matching scheme using up to 3 colors which may be toggled. You can also email color swatches to yourself or clients, and get a neutral representation of the color you are examining as a background. The app works in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch. In 1927 the German "Reichsausschu f r Lieferbedingungen und G tesicherung" (State Commission for Delivery Terms and Quality Assurance) invented a collection of 40 colours under the name of "RAL 840". Prior to that date manufacturers and customers had to exchange samples to describe a tint, whereas from then on they would rely on numbers. In the 1930s the numbers were changed uniformly to four digits and the collection was renamed to "RAL 840 R" (R for revised). With tints constantly added to the collection, it was revised again in 1961 and changed to "RAL 840-HR", which consists of 210 colours and is in use to this day.
